Area residents are fueling NOVA real estate frenzy, not Amazon newcomers

The homes in Arlington and Alexandria are selling at an average of 30 days faster than they did a year ago, the interest is coming from locals hoping to score a deal before the Amazon employees come in. The company’s HQ2, is being developed in Crystal City located in the southeastern corner of Arlington, and just to the north of Alexandria. The company estimates that 25,000 employees will work in the new headquarters. But they won’t all arrive at once. It could take years for the new HQ to reach that staffing level. According to the Post, Amazon plans to hire approx 400 employees in the next year and between 1,000 and 1,500 in the coming years. Amazon employees salary could be as high as of $150,000. Many of the locals to believe that they will start buying houses soon after arrival.
